Holiday, Is it a Verb or a Noun?

Defined by Wikipedia:

A holiday is a day set aside by custom or by law on which normal activities, especially business or work including school, are suspended or reduced. Generally, holidays are intended to allow individuals to celebrate or commemorate an event or tradition of cultural or religious significance.

Holidays are time to be out and about with family and friends, caroling, drinking eggnog and spreading joy.

Much emphasis is placed on the way we should celebrate and the warm fuzzies to be had from celebrating.

In the best of times….

For most of us holidays rarely live up to the images portrayed in television/movies, shared on Instagram, etc.

Whether a verb or a noun, the word can often conjures the same feelings.

Whether we are far from family or friends.. have tragically lost someone we love, have a minimal (nonexistent) budget, family dynamic issues, celebrating a holiday can be terrifying.

Compounded with the stress that a once in 100 year pandemic and an election year that seems will be dragging into next year.

This year more than ever the holidays are difficult, for most we won’t be with our families and friends.

No matter who you are our the situation you are in this year has undoubtedly been profoundly difficult.

Not surprisingly fewer, are in the “holiday spirit”, many of us will face the day alone.. or if truly blessed with a “quarantine buddy” or two the one(s) you have been facing each days trials and tribulations with… likely in no mood to celebrate.

Take a moment step back and realize that no matter how things look right now.. we have been given today.. what we do with today is our choice.

Rather than face it with fear…. lets do what we can to embrace the holidays.

I’ll be posting some ideas that may help make your day/week brighter.

You matter, be kind to yourself, look at all you have been through.

Roly Poly, Fat and Fluffy!

I have spent all of my days a bit of all of the above, roly poly, fat and fluffy, 🙂

How can that be, all are the same Fat!

Ah not so fast my slim and fellow fluffy friends alike..

Have I ever been thin? Nah.

Thinner then today, heck yeah! Yesterday.

Do I care?

If I’m feeling Fluffy

Not a care in the world floating around feeling well fluffy…. who doesn’t love fluffy, cute squeezable.. brings a smile to your face, seemingly weightless, floating.. owning every bit of fluffy!

If feeling like Roly Poly

Still cute, less concerned with calories then a when feeling fluffy..

Having a great time, enjoying all of the foods that are off limits when feeling fluffy (aka chubby thin days!)

Key to enjoying a successful roly poly feeling kind of day… baggy clothes!!! There is nothing worse than, a roly poly day spent, in tight clothes…. actually that wouldn’t be a roly poly kind of day at all!

It’s the roly poly days that eventually bring the fat days…

If feeling Fat

The jeans that you weren’t wearing in celebration of roly poly day… if lucky go up your thighs… .of course if up ones thighs… the zipper won’t zip without resorting to holding ones breath as long as possible, while lying prone on the floor.

Remember lounge clothes were created for a reason… as evidenced by the current stay at home fashion trend and baking supply shortages!

I’ts okay to eat comfort food even when feeling fat… for tomorrow I will embrace my fluffy side, and so the cycle of being fluffy, roly poly and fat, begin anew.

I tend to be a healthy eater, that said I’m still blessed to be fluffy!!… Truly a blessing!

It’s all how you wear it!

Not all of us were created from a gene pool that leads to naturally lean bodies. We’re the lucky ones, knowing the freedom that comes with embracing oneself, as you are. If you haven’t you should, life changing!

When confident, you’re happy and when your happy you can be the you you were meant to be!

Disclaimer, None of these are photos of me and by NO MEANS do I consider the models in these images as roly poly, fat or fluffy. They were chosen to express the feeling not the size.

Mystery Continues ~ More Monoliths Appear

Multiple Monolith sightings again this week!

Even the Lego Librarian at Brantford Library spotted one, via thier Twitter Account “A mysterious #monolith was discovered at our Main branch this morning by our #Lego #librarian. 🙂

Thoughts?

Leaning toward prank… maybe not.. better than the alternative

Space Odyssey (via Wikipedia)

In the series of novels (and the films based on these), three Monoliths are discovered in the Solar System by hominids and humans. The response of the characters to their discovery drives the plot of the series. It also influences the fictional history of the series, particularly by encouraging humankind to progress with technological development and space travel.

The first Monolith appears at the beginning of the story, set in prehistoric times. It is discovered by a group of hominids and somehow triggers a considerable shift in evolution, starting with the ability to use tools and weaponry. It is later revealed that thousands of other monoliths exist elsewhere in the Solar System.

I leave you with this scene from the movie

Keep you posted!
